It is an agronomic technique designed to increase the amount of water in the soil, encourage its infiltration, and promote the natural decomposition of organic matter in the soil. Its use also significantly reduces soil erosion. The biggest benefit of no-till is the improvement of the soil in terms of biological activity, the creation of a natural environment, and increasing the general resilience of the soil.
The method requires much less machinery in the field than conventional tillage, which should translate into reduced fuel and machinery maintenance costs.
